What’s happening at The Smugglers’ Den Inn

Real Ale and Pie Festival
This years dates: 2/3/4/5 May 2008

News Last year's 8th Annual Smugglers' Real Ale and Pie Festival took place over the May Bank Holiday weekend and was again a fun packed, ale fueled, pie eating extravaganza! This wonderful 16th century thatched inn, located just outside of Newquay, nestles in the heart of the Cornish countryside, with a beer garden, family room, children's play area and ample parking. This is the perfect location in which to enjoy the festival with everything needed in fact to make this years Real Ale and Pie Festival the best yet!

The 4 day event started on Friday 4th May with a fantastic and varied selection of real ales, homemade pies and delicious food available all day, with live entertainment from local performers. There was over 50 different real ales, some brewed especially for the pub and a vast selection of pies to choose from. The Smugglers kitchen team managed to make over a hundred pies for the festival ranging from a selection of hot and cold pies including steak and ale, chicken and leek, game, vegetarian quiches and Mrs Hancock's renowned Cornish Homity Pie.

Building on it's success over the last few years we found it necessary to increase the marquee size to accommodate the ever growing festival providing us with another bar to hold the many barrels of ale and local Cornish ciders too. The splendid marquee, adjacent to the pub, was a perfect venue for all the live entertainment from live jazz to traditional Cornish folk. Day and night, the music played, the ale flowed and appetites were satisfied. Whether you sat back, soaked up the sun or danced the weekend away we hope you had a fantastic time and if you missed out then be sure to join us this year for an even bigger and better festival!
